Reliving Our Dream - Luke Cyr (43 Handicap)
No matter the path laid out by fate
Follow you must, for goodness of sake
Life is that, mere times in our story
Challenge ourselves and preach us to glory
Tales of the time, we hold near to heart
Couldn’t this be, from end through the start
Vows were made a truth that is told
Belief in our love, no need to be sold
Rise through the fog, we find ourselves in
Promise my help, through darkness and sin
A team is a team, surrounded by side
Love is the want, as waves crave the tide
Light of the moon, shines down as we trust
Fight til we win, as everything is us
This is a poem I wrote last summer, I was kind of in a rut and dwelling on the present, worrying about all the petty things, but also allowing them to impede my efforts. So, I reverted back to thinking of who I used to be, things I loved to do, memories of who I was before the army and before the wars. How fun I was before I turned to substance and alcohol to bring me joy. Remembering that little blonde haired boy, who let's face it was always up to no good, but had one of the biggest of hearts. I was able to find happiness in these memories.
You see the way I look at it, if bad memories can ruin your day, good ones can improve it. My technique has worked for me and I hope that it works for you as well.
