Love and War (Hope)

Love and War - Luke Cyr (43 Handicap)

Relationships updated events of the day
Trusted on words that lovers they say
Visions of times, long down the road
Lifetime of happiness and how it is sold
Nights drag on awaiting a dream
When scripts play out the perfect of teams
Each passing day, the hours they drag
Menacing seconds to minute they lag
Hope keeps the spark, of times of embrace
Rewarded with love must never be raced
Spirits dubbed kindred, definition and word
Circumstantial patience worries be heard
Wait for tomorrow one step to the cause
Once you’re together you’ll pray for a pause

Discussion

This is a poem I wrote in the fall of 2022. I was missing a loved one, but I wrote this in the mindset that reverted back to when I was overseas. When I was so in love and missing that person was felt physically.

I wrote this poem so it could be used by anyone who at any time misses someone. I found a lot of my mental health strain comes from not being able to have that person at an arms reach. It could be a loved one that's passed or a person who got away or simply is at work while you sit at home alone.

It's hard but the whole meaning of this poem is waiting might be the longest part but when reunited it lets the mind know it was worth the worry. But if you truly dissect it, you will find that love once found is a small band-aid some of us need to survive.
