Hero’s Sentence (War)

Hero's Sentence - Luke Cyr (43 Handicap)

Dead people follow, behind two by two
Race to victory it’s all we can do
Tomorrow a promise we make to one’s self
To never ignore or place of the shelf
Pied to a piper, sworn to a cause
Accepted parade or silenced applause
Glory is a praise sent from on mass
Handling the lives of hero’s surpass
Tomorrow repeated on the horrors of today
I’ve lived this true lie, pay heed what I say
Views from the norm, polluting my mind
Pry all you want, true terror you find
Hide from the hate, it’s all you find here
My life in the darkness, the light I do fear

Discussion

This is a poem I wrote to remind myself, even though I am free of the darkness, it still lives. It lives in my mind, it lives in society, it lives in the whispers. And I'll never be free of it.

But what I do today to make myself feel safer is what makes me stronger than the darkness. Always one step ahead of it and never letting it find its voice.

While we fight and struggle to find our peace of mind, we need to be willing to help others around us who are suffering and lead from example. Everyone deserves not only tomorrow, but most importantly, the peace of today.
