Fighting for a Loss (Strength)

Fighting for a Loss - Luke Cyr (43 Handicap)

Given up moments laid out to chance
I know it’s not pretty the saddest romance
Line up the comments, take them in stride
Given everything on concentrated mind
Hailed by the past, unstoppable grace
Found in a ditch down on my face
Take from me all that you wish
Overlooked resume a fact that is missed
It’s not what you’ve done, for me and us lately
I need you right now to calm and to safety
I always could count on you from the past
The wind from your sails has put me aghast
See from your hurt, the need is right now
Don’t send me to pasture, like a washed up old cow
Find in your heart, what made you find love
Stand here and hold me, like angels above

This is is a poem I wrote when I was at Cabot. I was caddying for a group of guys. When you caddy, everyone wants to know your story. I never hold back; I refuse to be a phony; and I want my golfers to know who's on their bag. When they found out about my military career, and my struggles with mental health, they wouldn't stop for 18 holes ask me question after question but what it was like, and for story after story of my struggles on mental health.
After the round, I left and went back to our trailer and wept Sean grabbed me and gave me a hug, and asked me what had happened. When I told him. He told me, "I want you to write about it."
I did, and this is what I wrote, "We went out for supper that night and I was able to get over the past, the rut I was in. My point is, you can do this alone, but if you can do it with help, it's so much easier. Find someone like I did, and lean on them. I'll tell you right now, they would rather die themselves than ever see you suffer a game.
