The Length of Life (Motivation)

The Length of Life - Luke Cyr (43 Handicap)

Half a lifetime leaves us half a lifetime more
Line up and behold all that I have in-store
Passion and love, joys of all kind
Closed eyes, imagined the happiness you’ll find
I promise you this on the soul of my life
Gone are the days of heartbreak and strife
Childish chasing of immature delight
Traded all in, to be beside you all night
Days will pass, with memories made
Connection between us, unable to fade
Legacy paves the path of our tale
Thank the Gods, this ship never sailed
Until final breath taken, eyes shut for ever
A half a lifetime of love my only endeavor

Discussion

I wrote this poem to remind me to fall in love with the person in the mirror.
The person I go to bed with every night.
That person, when the chips are down, is there for me.
That person is my reflection in the mirror.
This poem tells me to build that perfect life with what I have left. Putting the blame on others or relying on others could end up blowing up in your face. This comes down to you and your resolve with a bit of assistance. Though other people and our networks make this thing work, ultimately we'll come down to just you and your confidence going forward.

So build up that confidence. Tell yourself how great you are until you start to believe it. And when that voice in your head tries to stir you in the wrong direction, one up it. Stir it in the right direction.
